Nearly 100 exhibitors, 300 attendees expected at sixth annual event Oct. 9

HENDERSON – The Henderson Chamber of Commerce will host its sixth annual Henderson Business Connection Expo from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, at the Henderson Convention Center, located at 200 S. Water Street in the Water Street District. The event is free and open to the public.

Presented by the Henderson Chamber of Commerce and the Henderson Development Association, the event will include nearly 100 booths for business-to-business networking as well as guest panel discussion, “Building Henderson: New Developments,” which will showcase new economic developments and business growth in Henderson.

The guest panel discussion moderated by Barbra Coffee, City of Henderson’s director of economic development/redevelopment, is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m., with the doors opening to the expo at 11 a.m.

Panelists include: Doug Roberts of Panattoni Development Company, Lee Farris of Cadence, Sam Kaufman of Henderson Hospital, Windom Kimsey, FAIA of Tate Snyder Kimsey Architects and Joe DeSimone Jr. of First Federal Realty.

Additionally, two workshops – “Nevada’s New Business Taxes – Are You Ready?” and “Social Media Timesavers” – will take place during the expo.

From 11:30 a.m. to 12:20 p.m., Gary Johnson, CPA and managing partner for Johnson Advisors, will discuss: how the Commerce Tax works; how a business should prepare for reporting and paying the Commerce Tax; and other recent tax changes for Nevada businesses.

From 1 to 1:50 p.m., Cheryl Thode from All About Marketing Solutions will discuss: tips for saving up to ten hours a week managing your social media; simple ways to find usable, relevant content for your posts; how to integrate your social media into sales promotions and events; and best practices, business builders and more.

Registration for the two classes should be done in advance at hendersonchamber.com.

More than 300 attendees are expected to attend to network with business owners representing many industries and companies in and around the Henderson and Las Vegas Valley.

“The expo is a good time to check in with new and existing businesses in the community,” said Scott Muelrath, CEO and president of the Henderson Chamber of Commerce. “Not only does it give other business owners the chance to meet people, network and research other companies in the area, it gives the Henderson Chamber an avenue to reach out to those businesses as well.”

Event sponsors include the City of Henderson, Harsch Investment Properties, Henderson Hospital, Manpower of Southern Nevada, Stimulus Technologies, First Federal Realty DeSimone, Hadfield Building Corporation, SR Construction, Bank of Nevada and Cadence.

Parking is available in the rear lot of the convention center, accessible from Atlantic Avenue. Additional parking is permitted on the side streets surrounding the Henderson Events Plaza as well as the parking garages near City Hall, at Basic Road and Lead Street; and near the Justice Facility, at Water Street and Basic Road.
